"Photographers tend not to photograph what they can't see, which is the very reason one should try to attempt it. Otherwise we're going to go on forever just photographing more faces and more rooms and more places. Photography has to transcend description. It has to go beyond description to bring insight into the subject, or reveal the subject, not as it looks, but how does it feel?"

-Duane Michals

Long Island University final project: My Fears

Artist Statement:
Humans tend to store away uncomfortable thoughts. The images here are what I store away to remain in my comfort zone. Fear is elusive and its presence can only be felt through the tiny hairs on one’s neck. Well, the hairs on my neck have apparently been numbed by routine because I did not realize I was so unnerved by my environment. To live a sane life, these fears have become a dull ache, residing only in the back of my mind.

Until now.

For this project, I had to ask: “What makes you scream, Jesaca?”
